I wouldn't be surprised if rickets reared it's head too, kids don't play out, they stay in on pics etc, & don't get enough sun

Not good news. Lots of food banks here nowadays.

I remember the last place I worked pre 2006.

There was a client turned up who had had TB in the past, he was asked to produce his certificate to say he was TB free - all he had a scrappy piece of paper that he claimed he had got from Pakistan (he was UK white British) that nobody could read. Needless to say he was asked to return when he had an NHS one - he didn't return.

I think there is too much glutony and people do not do enough exercise
After the war people were the healthiest they had ever been, no internet, no cars and mostly only veg to eat.
Very poor but healthy.

I think you're right Wendy. I remember food shortages and rationing. I would say that we, my two brothers and I, never went without food but that was mainly due to mother being very thrifty whilst cooking wholesome, healthy food - and the fact that we were ravenously hungry after palying outdoors. However, in retrospect I realise that we were fortunate, eg my dad was working to support us whereas some of my friends lost their dad in the war and others came home so badly injured that they were unable to work and there was little help in those days - good neighbours and relatives helped one another and somehow people just about survived - but some didn't.

Fast forward to present time - it's sad.

It wouldn't surprise me about malnutrition in USA, my cousin go to America every year and she say she's never seen to many people living on the streets going around bins.
