Dementia question for you

Postby wendy » 10 Jun 2015, 18:01

If you were to get dementia how would you like to be cared for?
By your family or in a care home?

A difficult question for you, but someone asked it on twitter and I thought you may like to answer.

I would prefer to be looked after by family, but I am not sure I would wish that on them, neither would I like to be in a care home .. so I am right up the creek without a paddle ...

Same as LIz, I would prefer to stay with my family, however, it would not be fair on them, it is pretty daunting and very difficult caring for someone with dementia, sometimes nursing home is the only viable option, before the whole family
cracks

There would be no option for me other than go into a home.

I have a brother and a sister but neither would look after me, so my only option is a home.

I feel the same as you all. Maybe we could go into a care home together! Sad to think this is a decision for so many every day
