we always thought we were blessed with the neighbours we had when we moved to our bungalow in 2006, they would take in deliveries etc if we were out. then last year i found out during the flood last year that any sense of 'community spirit' was non existant.

I was on my own because my piglet was in hospital, but it wouldnt have mattered if he'd been home because he couldnt have helped with the sand bags.

Whenever there was a delivery of sandbags my next door neighbours were out with wheelbarrows taking bags from the stack whereas i could only manage two at time (they were heavy) and they never offered to help. They'd experinced previous floods but it was the first time for me, how i got no advice from them either. They even moaned at me for taking bags from the stack that they thought they should have had.

The only neighbors who offered help and advice were the ones who were worse off than me, where as all that next door seemed concerned with was themselves and their own property. It didnt do them any good anyway, the water still got in inspite of all the bags and plastic sheets that they grabbed.
