If you watch and listen to this, I feel sure you will be worn out.
The men have to do it 3 times a day.
At the end I noticed he was crawling on his hands and feet.

One of the parents was getting quite fidgetty and I thought hey-up? It then proceesed to peck a lot at the grey bit to the left. It kept looking around and I thought I heard another peregrine, the one on the eggs very briefly left the next and I heard a lot of screeching and after a few minutes a birds came back and sat on the four eggs.

Got this snip this morning about 6.10am

Third Norwich Cathedral peregrine falcon chick hatches
A third egg laid by the female peregrine perched on the spire of Norwich Cathedral has hatched today.

The Hawk And Owl Trust, which runs the webcam on the cathedral today posted: “Hold the front page!! We have a third chick at Norwich Cathedral hatched about 2pm - can’t keep up.”

This follows an earlier post today stating: “Da-dada-daaaaah! Hear this people. We have not just one but two peregrine chicks at Norwich Cathedral this morning. Both hatched overnight but we did not get to see them until 0530. All looks good and they have even been fed.”
http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/third_norwi ... _1_4051380

the other day I was looking and wondering why the bird kept rubbing her beak against the stones, I thought that it was getting the beak ready, nice and sharp to break the eggs. I wonder if I was correct.

Sad news I'm afraid .. one of the chicks has died. It seems to be the last one to hatch, mind with all this wet windy weather ... The other three are okay so far and feeding well ...

A quick update..

I briefly stopped off at the Cathedral on the way home on Saturday - saw two peregrines chasing each other round the spire. When I got to the watch point in the Lower Close I saw on the board that there had been an intruder and that was what I saw - one of the parents chasing it off.

One of the people at the watch point also said that the three chicks that are left (all healthy so far), might be ringed this week. If that is the case, the cameras will probably be switched off while it is done - chances are there might be a mention on local TV/in the papers when they do it, like they did last year.

I am sick of these birds, every time I take a look they are pushing down the remains of another bird. Just think this bird may have a family and they will probably die as well if they have no parent bird to feed them.
Why cant these peregrines learn to eat vegetables and seeds like other birds?

I was chatting to a lady I work with who is a member of the Hawk and Owl Trust .. she tells me that the peregrines get preyed on themselves by Goshawks which are bigger !

I can't get over at how well these babies are trained, they are left on their own, and yet they dont go over the edge.
They spend a long time cleaning or sleeping.

I want to try and get there tomorrow with my camera and binoculars as they are now big enough to see over the edge and been seen. I have been up a few times and only spotted one of the parents once .. and that was when it was chasing of an "intruder" falcon - there were these two birds chasing each other round and round the spire !

Just a quick update, I almost forgot, the birds weren't ringed this year.

I popped to the Castle for a quick visit and got chatting the the lady who was manning the big TV screen there with the live feed. She told me it was something to with safety going up all those ladders.

It should be about another week before they fledge.

... and here is the latest video .. hope you have your earplugs in, they don't half make a racket when Mum brings the food
