Many young pupils 'can't communicate'

I find this shocking!

Too many children are starting school in England unable to speak in simple sentences or control their behaviour, a study says.

The Early Intervention Foundation's analysis found a fifth of children lacked the expected personal, social and emotional development by age five.

A quarter of children were unable to communicate at the level expected for their age, it added.

The government said it recognised the importance of early years investment.

I am not surprised, a lot of young mum's are on their phone and to busy to talk to their child or pay any attention to the child.

I agree Rosalind.

My niece has been diagnosed as glue ear and can hear anything. She is nearly 2 and a half and doesn't speak. I and the rest of the family had stated that we thought she had this over a year ago and my sil did nothing to get I checked until just before Christmas. She has no basic skill like eating with cutlery she still uses her hands and has never been taught this.

She was bought up by the TV and peppy pig! While sil was on her tablet.

When you hear some of the younger generation talk it is hard to understand them, when I were growing up we were taught table manners and to speak plain English, and got a clip round the lug if you didn't.

Discipline is whats needed, but it is the do gooders that's put the mockers on it.
