these tips were in my local paper today, so I have typed them out, as I think you may remember some of them.
Do it yourself home treatments
1. A hot water bottle always available
2. Feet in a bowl of hottish, soapy water after getting drenched in wet weather
3. A warm towel around the neck for general aches and pains and stiff neck
4. A hot compress (usually bread and milk boiled and sqeezed) and applied to boils and unknown lumps (it brought them to a head)
5. A new cold was helped by boiling an onion in milk until tender, then eating it or slicing a few fresh lemons - put in a suitable basin with a little sugar to soften the sharpness, then pour boiling water over. Allow to cool before sipping. This was good for chesty coughs (and tasty too).
6. A hangover cure was two raw eggs beaten in some milk.
In our days it was all about prevention topped with tender loving care and rest. It always worked.
