With the current climate of bad press people are reluctant to place their elderly relative in care/nursing homes, I know some peoples excuses are pathetic as to why they are bed blocking, they have been speaking about it on radio this lunchtime.
I remember when my late mum was in hospital bed blocking because she needed more care and needed nursing care and her care home wouldn't take her back because of that, I bring her home in my place it was to small and I was caring for my daughter in her own home at the time, the best of it is hospital social worker was supposed to find a nursing home for mum, they didn't get round to it, they asked me to find one in the end which I did, it took me only 24 hours to find one.
there is not enough help for people to find their loved ones suitable care/nursing homes, it's now DIY

I can understand their reluctance re nursing homes with all the bad press they receive, but we could learn a lot form our ethnic minorities who look after and revere their elderly on the whole
