We are delighted to have funding to provide laptops and tablets for needy carers living in Norwich and Norfolk, we can also do IT training in the carers home. We will be providing laptops in other counties in the near future.
But it becomes hard work and difficult when the paid workers who do have the contact with the family carers do not tell them about our scheme.
The big carer charities never work with us and yet they are the ones who get all the funding for carers. They never retweet our stuff and yet you can see that our newspaper is full of information from them.
Do you think I should speak up and let the public know?
There are some carer support workers within Norfolk who work with us but they are very few. We have a great communication with carers agencies from out of Norfolk.
The local newspapers have put articles in the paper so as to reach carers.
It feels like the carers agencies in Norfolk do not reach out to carers with any useful information if they do not have the internet.
I know the situation in Norfolk is that the paid workers are mostly unhappy with their employment and looking for other jobs.
Is it the same all over the country, I wonder.
So how do we reach the carers.
What is the answer?
