Remake of Dad's Army

Seems like a great line-up

Bill Nighy, Sir Michael Gambon, Toby Jones and Sir Tom Courtenay are among the stars who will appear in a big-screen remake of classic sitcom Dad's Army.

Jones will star as Captain Mainwaring, Nighy will appear as Sergeant Wilson and Courtenay will play Corporal Jones.

Gambon will fill the role of Private Godfrey and there will also be roles for Catherine Zeta Jones, Sarah Lancashire and Mark Gatiss.

The original sitcom followed a hapless World War II Home Guard platoon.

It ran for nine series from 1968 to 1977 and is regarded as one of Britain's greatest TV comedies

I hope it is as good as the original. Sometimes they aren't as good and disappointing.

I wonder why they are doing this, the original ones still make me laugh.

You can't beat the original one, I don't think a remake with have the same impact but it might appeal to the younger generation who were not about when original one was on TV.

It is like when they do a remake of films they are never the same as the orginals

The new cast looks good, I hope they are as good as the original cast, it is normally never as good.
