Does anyone have a smart meter?

I had the gas man come out today, and he suggested that I have a smart meter.
Does anyone have experience of them?

I am having the old meter in my other house changed on September 22 but not too a smart meter  They sound OK great in fact yet how many times do we read of new products  ending up not working right ?and  knowing my luck it would most likely send false reading  sp0  I rather use/ stick to the old fashion method even  read it myself but when smart meters have been around a  bit maybe I will consider one coffeex
