Burnley’s first ‘Death cafe’ opens soon

Talking death may not be everybody’s cup of tea but that is exactly what the topic of conversation will be when Burnley’s first “Death Cafe” opens next month.


Burnley Crematorium will host the quirky event on Sunday, September 7th, giving strangers the chance to meet, drink coffee, eat cake and discuss death.

The idea originated in Switzerland courtesy of sociologist Bernard Crettaz. The UK’s first death cafe was opened in London in 2011 and they can now be found across America, Canada and Australia

I know it is a topic we all have to discuss and accept but I wouldn't want to go to a cafe for it!!

What will they serve? "Death by chocolate" cake?
