The North West's first cord donation centre has opened in Manchester to help people fighting blood cancer.

The unit will allow women giving birth at St Mary's hospital the chance to donate blood from their umbilical cords and placenta.

People with ms are having stem cell transplants from babies umbilical cords . Modern advances in medical procedures are helping more and more people to beat the once terminal illnesses and conditions .
