The yeast used to make lagers and ales has the unexpected power to make everyone a little bit prettier (and we're not talking about beer goggles here). “You see it listed as adenosine triphosphate in many organic beauty creams. It's very effective on wrinkles and restoring skin,” says Keith Wallace, President & Founder of The Philly Beer School and author of Corked & Forked: Four Seasons of Eats and Drinks.

"Most are familiar with the benefits that red wine has on your skin but is has been shown that drinking beer, which has silica in it, can prevent free radical damage to the skin and internal organs,” says Maria Rianna-Boyajian from White Tea Med Spa in New York City. Drinking, great! But wearing? Maybe even better!

Combat Acne
Beer's sediments (brewer’s yeast) can help improve the symptoms of acne by slowing down the sebum production and killing off the bacteria that triggers acne, says Marta Worhle of Truth in Aging. This main ingredient of the beverage, inactive yeast that no longer has leavening power, is known to be a great asset in maintaining a balanced pH level in the skin.

Get Glowing Skin
Funny how people call your booze habit toxic when beer actually helps to flush out the toxins in your skin, at least when drunk at less-than-excessive levels. The result: glowing skin. The Vitamin B present in beer helps to soften skin as well. Kind of like a wine flush, but legit.

"When beer is applied topically it can clear up your complexion, treat dry flakes, and make the skin smooth and supple thanks to the pantothenic acid and vitamin complex,” says Rianna-Boyajian.

Soften Feet
Founder of The Beauty Bean, Alexis Wolfer is a fan of a beer-based foot soak and scrub, which softens and breaks down dead skin cells. The B Vitamins, proteins and yeast in beer can soften your feet and nourish your skin. Wolfer recommends going for a richly hued beer for this (stouts, dark lagers or Guinness). They aren’t as processed or diluted, so they contain more of the antioxidants, nutrients and proteins you want.

Many years ago I use to use Beer shampoo, it was very good, made your hair shine.

The one I use to buy was Linco beer shampoo, the bottle was like a little barrel, think they stopped producing it, I think that Anelco one is exactly the same, I must get me some.

When I was 7 we were moving house so my parents had a party. There were lots of the party 6 barrels left (I think thats what they were called) I remember tipping them over my head as my mum had said how good it was for your hair. I got a big telling off for doing it and only ended up with very sticky hair and clothes!!!

I also remember linco beer shampoo. I did see it in a discount shop not long ago!

I would be concerned using beer on my face and feet in case when I went out with the smell everyone would think I was a raging lush!!!!
