Does Port have a drink by date?

Postby chenrezig » 26 Dec 2013, 20:40

I have two mini bottles (50 ml) of port. One is Taylor's Late Bottled Vintage Port, the other is Taylor's Select Port. They are in a tin that I think was bought in Marks'

I have had them at least since Xmas 2009 as they were bought as an Xmas pressie for Dad but he never drank it. They are in glass bottles with one of those metal tops and are unopened. I thought maybe have a sip of it to see the New Year in but not sure if they are safe to drink?

I also wondered if any of you cooks out there knew of any recipes that I could use them in if they are okay ?

If it's unopened it will be fine, you hear of people keeping vintage port in wine sellers and wine keep for donkeys years, port is a fortified wine.
