You tell us how much Chill means to you and that you want us to continue, and that pleases me greatly.
Chill is wider than just this website as we have thousands of followers on twitter and facebook, and then there is our Computers for Carers as well as the newspaper.
I could not do this without the help of Maureen,Ross and Annie and all of you, but I feel there is something you should know.

For several months now I have been looking into getting us help for Chill so when I have to give up, you will still have a forum, the newspaper and computers4carers and our facebook and twitter.
This week I have moved further with this, asking for a volunteer CEO who knows how to apply for funding and make us a registered charity, so they will continue with my work,  but they will get a salary.
I have to get us trustees, and there is a long way for us to go, so I hope you realize that I am doing my best for you to keep Chill.
The bottom line is we have to find funding to get someone to continue, because no one will do what I have chosen to do, without they get paid for doing it.
My health is not good, and some days  I struggle to do this, and this is why it means such alot to me what Maureen, Ross and Annie and all of you do to help me.
Thank you.

Thankyou for all of your hard work Wendy, you do so much to keep Chill running. Also Mo, Ross and Annie. This site is so important to so many of us, and so many people are helped, far and wide.

I also add my thanks for all the work involved in keeping Chill going but as Mo has said, "Chill cannot run on fresh air alone".  What we need to know is, what can we all do to help with moving on towards charity status? financially?, practically?

thank you for adding these posts
Daisy asks what can be done,
I need help in finding trustees, and have no idea how to go about this.
If anyone has any experience this will be a great help to me.

this is a little more explanation of the work I have to do

Using your existing feedback. Try to collate this data into 2 formats - individual testimonials and an analysis of the whole data about the social impact of your carers support group. Ideally the findings should be presented in graphs or data tables. Presenting this data to local businesses when asking for sponsorship or to funding bodies should really help increase your success rate.

Hi All
Some of you may not know who I am so I had better introduce myself.
I am Wendy's son who built and created this website many many years ago and continue to adapt and change it as the internet evolves.
Chill4us was originally set up in order to give carers  information and to give them a place to feel relaxed and share ideas on how to make their lives better.
In that time not only did chill fulfill that it went up to a new level where my mother personally spoke to numerous mp's and visited the houses of parliament numerous times to try and improve and change how carers are looked upon and indeed funded.
Did those visits make a difference? well no as a carers are  still put in the box as ' leaching from the government' (this matter you should discussed by YOU the members!!)
However , does that make her work less important over all these years ? DISCUSS !!
Chill4us will be changing dramatically in 2014 as it needs to move on and become a registered charity and not a private site as it is as the moment.
Some of you may find this worrying as you have personal posts on the forum , but please believe me you are safe and no one can find anymore information about you than they can from just googling your name.
I personally think it is time you all gave back to what Chill4us has done over the many years and support us with this new and exciting project.
I would also like to point out that my mother who is now 72 years old will be stepping down her position in 2014 and passing all the responsibility and worries over too ....................?
Feel free to discuss all these topics further.
Merry Christmas to you all
Ross

I did not know that Ross was going to post this, so thank you Ross.
I am only 71  xmas19

We started Chill in 2002 and now we must look to the future.  My family and friends are concerned about my health but the only way for Chill to continue is to get funding, because no one would do what I have done for free.
The abuse has not been nice and being let down by friends, but the love from so many of you is what has kept me going, and the help of our wonderful managers.  It has been fun, and I have loved meeting so many of you.
Thank you.

I hope you will reply to this post and support Ross in what he is trying to do for Chill.
I have always done it for YOU and now he is trying.
love

On a personal level… In Sept 2005 I became a “part-time Carer”, by that I mean I had to change to part rather than full time work to look after my Father. In March 2006 it became full-time. “Logic” had told me it would be tough looking after him – how I underestimated just how much it would change my life..

Chill4us was a wonderful discovery when I first found it in May 2007. Here was a group of people who too were Carers like me. The support over the years I looked after my father (and after he died) was invaluable –I got help and advice here I couldn’t have got from anywhere else. It was advice and  support  from my “peers”, from people who were/had been in the same position, who had been there and done that, or were still doing “it” – it being a Carer with all the physical, mental and emotional strain that being one involved.

Wendy and Ross and all those who have been involved in running Chill have done a wonderful job… all for the love of it, on a purely voluntary basis. We all know on a personal level just what a toll being a Carer can take out of us - Wendy has been caring for all the members of Chill for years …

I think we all have a part to play in making sure that Chill4us is accessible to future Carers. With any organisation, one person cannot run it forever, I for one fully support Wendy in what she has chosen to do … and Ross for what he is doing for Chill ...

Thank you Liz for replying.  That has meant the world to me, and it feels like the last years have not been wasted.
We know the  members that have read this topic but not replied and without they do so, we dont know what you want us to do.
As it stands it feels like you are not interested what happens but we hope sincerely that you are putting words together.
It is your choice, are you going to support Ross and our managers in what they have planned or do you feel that you no longer need Chill4us?

Chill has been a lifeline to me over the last 7 years & can't get through the day without my chill fix. I have made lots of new friends & have  received and  support countless times over the last few years . I don't think anyone realises how much work is involved in the running of chill, it is not an easy option & Wendy and Ross have worked tirelessly to keep it going. but now is the time for her to sit back and retire.
I sincerely hope  that the members get behind you on this  Wendy, as I for one would be devastated if chill folded& I hope that  I can support Ross in what he is trying to do to move chill forward

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for what you have done to make Chill the salvation and place of sanctuary it is today.

The lives that you have touched with you kindness and hard work is immeasurable. I fully support your decision to retire Wendy and hope you now will have time to do leisurely and relaxing things that you have put off through the years.

I for one will try my very best to help in supporting Ross and whoever takes over from you Wendy. Like Annie says we would all be devastated to lose this amazing place where carers are supported and understood and where we have all made lasting friendships.

I hope as you sit back and relax you fully understand what you have achieved not only with Chill but your campaigning too. Without people like you issues like ours go unnoticed. You have been a salvation for hundreds of people Wendy and i am very proud to have had the chance to get to know you.

It is rare for one person to touch so many lives but you have certainly managed that and more.

So I hope every chiller on here will make the effort and enjoy helping Chill move forward in a new chapter.

Hi, I have only just seen this post, as our electricity has been off for most of the day and only just now been put on temporarily.
I thank you Wendy for all of your hard work, which I have always appreciated and I am willing to support whatever needs to be done concerning the future.
My health and my husbands is not too good, but whatever I can do I am willing to do. Just need to be pointed in the right direction. I have told other people about Chill and will continue to publicise it in my area, and one suggestion I have is that I could talk at a couple of centres I attend to people who may be carers there, and /or publicize it by writing something. I will try and think of other things to.
Thanks to Wendy, Ross and Mo and all who keep things running at this time. x Jeanne

Chill has really become my extended family. While Mark was in hospital  I received unbelievable support from everyone and it really got me through some very dark, tough times. This is so much more than just a website-it's a lifeline full of caring, supportive friends who know what your going through. I must apologise for not always posting regularly. Thank you to all involved in the running of Chill.

I whole heartedly agree with the sentiments expressed by all that have responded to Ross's post.

To set up and keep an organisation like Chill going is very much like the swan in the lake. Serene and stately are the bits you see while, under water, paddling like mad to keep up with the flow. We are so lucky to have expert paddlers moving Chill along and I fully understand that there eventually comes a need to rest.

On a personal note, I discovered Chill after being disgusted at the way the major Alzheimers site was treating posters who were dissenting strongly at the amount of money collected for the Charity and the uses to which it was being put.

The feeling of "family" that is attached to the Chill site is, for me, one of the facets which gives it " 5 star" rating.

I note that some posting figures have been used in one response and that, on the face of it, the number of posts has declined. There are of course many reasons for this ranging from Facebook, Twitter and other social networks through to time constraints brought about by the heavy burdens of caring whilst trying to hold the family finances together. I do, however, think that the value gained from the posts must be taken into consideration. The posters themselves gain value from sharing the points they are making and the readers of the posts gain value from the posts themselves.

I look forward to the changes about to be made to the Chill site and believe that the whole site is in safe hands after being built by Wendy, Ross and the other major participants who have made the site what it is today.

Long may it continue.
