This portrays exactly my sister in law Connie`s last few weeks.  We enjoyed being able to sit with her, talking about days gone by, as she slipped in and out of consciousness.  I could time almost to the minute when she would pass away, not in a morbid way, but in a practical way to be able to be there for her children.

More facts about death need to be written to better prepare those being left behind and to help the person facing death.

Take care

Thank you Wendy for posting this, I also can't see any objection as it's a fact of life not normally spoken about, which is quite wrong in itself as we need to understand as much as we can because that's the one certain thing for all of us..

I don't know how i feel about this ,in the context of Dementia. Though i agree with the Mental Changes the body does not seem to understand what it means and for all sense and purpose does not respond to what is being told, therefore does not die and seems to be able too live in a state of death for many years.
I hope I don't offend anyone by saying this ,

Yes,  it is something you know will be coming but don't quite know what to expect.

I don't object at all. When Dad was having his last stay in hospital, I found a similar leaflet in one of the racks on the ward - unfortunately I have lost it, but I found it a help to understand the "journey" of dying and what the body physically goes through as it was not such a shock re the physical side of things. Re the hearing, going up until the day before he died I used to read out items from the local papers for him -I was so glad I did this as at the3 time I was not sure whether he could hear, but felt he was able better to know I was still there with him. As for the emotional ...

I understand where Barry is coming from as Dad had dementia, fortunately? he was aware of his surroundings and had a social life and ability to get out and about and meeting friends until a few weeks before he passed.

I think it depends on how you feel emotionally and mentally when you read something like this as it can leave you feeling "uplifted", or "low".
