Surprise Surprise!

Postby Grommit » 19 Nov 2015, 21:37

3 years and 4 months ago we had a Continuing Care Assessment which is supposed to take place on a yearly basis.

Today I received the results of that assessment. The letter accompanying the results states:-

"We will now liaise with your relative and their social worker about the care package they need. We will then write to them with details of our offer of care."

OO Goody! Another 3 year wait?

Thank you all for your responses.

At the moment things will remain as status quo. I did expect, 3 years ago, that, after the three hour grilling the team gave me, that they were seeking to reduce the payments made to Jean. So, for the last three years I have been worried about what the results of the assessment would show.

At least that worry is now over as the assessment comes down heavily acknowledging the care I take of Jean and the manner in which it is carried out.

The next stage is another visit from Social Services to discuss the payment situation.

What annoys me is the fact that the assessment is now three years out of date and things have changed. Things Jean could do then she can no longer do. Sleep disturbed nights have increased, ability to swallow liquids has decreased considerably, unsteadiness on her feet has increased.

Should any reduction in the payments be put forward at the meeting I will complain about several things which will include the age of the report and the fact that Jean does not receive any payments for night time attendance.

You are right, it is good to have some form of acknowledgement of all the care you take of Jean.

It is frustrating to have these assessments done - sometimes what you say (from personal experience with looking after dear Dad) that what you say to them doesn't always go in one ear, let alone out the other..

Thinking of you and your dear Jean and hoping the payemtn etc situation is resolved pronto
