Stody Gardens

Postby chenrezig » 20 May 2013, 07:35

I went to Stody Gardens yesterday, luckily the weather stayed dry, if a bit chilly towards the end of the afternoon…

For once I was a passenger with Door-to-Door as I took up the offer of a spare seat, though I would love to go back again to see it and take my time and not have to rush.

Accessibility was an issue as a lot was on grass, even though it was flat. It was heavy pushing for some –I did help to push a wheelchair for a while but my shoulders started aching so I packed it in, as they still play me up from pushing Dad's wheelchair...

Tea n cakes were lovely … all homemade cakes, and the event was in aid of Alzheimer’s (the driver of the bus I was on has a reputation for making cakes and I was lucky enough to get a bit … yum!)

I took quite a few pics, the colours of the rhododendrons were amazing !

There was a big van selling plants etc, and I couldn’t resist -  I came away with a patio tomato plant… it has quite a few tomatoes on it already, and when I got up this am I already had my first tomato… albeit a miniscule one that must have dropped off during the night lol

the photos are wonderful.  I was waiting to see what photos you took.
I went many years ago and someone had to push me in a wheelchair, so I know how uncomfortable it is to be in one, very bumpy.
I want to know, did you hear the cuckoo?

and thank you ever so much for sharing these photos. I will keep looking at them.

Beautiful pictures Liz.  I'd love to go there again - went several years ago, so if you want maybe we could go together, as I don't think I would want to take Paul there in his wheelchair.  Let me know if you fancy going together

Door to door did have a trip there this year, which I didn't do this time, but they did tell me  the flowers had come out earlier than last year ..

Sheila, I will have a think and pm you later on TA.
