I have (had) a tooth with a broken cap, and yesterday I started to get an abcess, went to walk-in centre and they gave me some antibiotics to tide me over. But this am I woke up looking like a lop-sided hamster !
So I phoned the NHS helpline and they gave the number of the weekend dentist - my luck that there was only one, but they were my end of the city, rang up got booked for 10.30am - was home by 11.30! Good taxi service too £8 each way.
Very nice dentist .. I wouldn't mind moving to them if I got the chance but they have a long waiting list.
He explained what he could do and what the options were -I opted to have the tooth out there n then. He did say it would hurt a bit more as it was infected as he had to loosen the tooth with sore gums, or wait til the antibiotics had taken the swelling down. I knew it had to come out any way so decided to get it over with and done.
It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be, the dental nurse was very kind as well. He numbed it so much the other side of my mouth started going numb as well - sitting here "drooling". He told me to take some painkillers as soon as I got home as I had left of having them this am as I didn't know what he would do.. so feeling better now it is over with and going to take the day quietly..
Nothing for dinner (my choice) but will have a bit of soup later..
Who said Sunday was supposed to be a day of rest ???
