Hello everyone, sorry I've not been on for some time. It's been a very stressful time for me. On Tuesday Paul had to have an operation to remove his left eye due to cancer pushing the eye forward. They were going to try to remove the cancer and the orbit of his eye where the cancer started. They had to do it under a local anaesthetic because he would not be able to survive a general anaesthetic. When they removed his eye, the cancer has spread into his temple and in front of his ear on the left side of his face. It would have meant a 5 hour operation to remove everything, so he would have had to have a general anaesthetic. They just stitched his eyelid down and next week he should be going back to the home. There is nothing more they can do for him, so they've got the palliative team involved. Luckily he isn't in any pain or discomfort, and we don't know how much longer he will live! I'm devastated - I hardly slept on Tuesday night. I'm trying to stay cheerful for Paul, but at home I'm not doing much - it's an effort to get out of bed some mornings. I'm meeting up with one of the palliative nurses at the hospital tomorrow at 4 pm and she will point me in the right direction for getting some support for me to help me cope with it all.
