Another Crisis

Postby Sheila-Anne » 10 Apr 2015, 18:41

Hi, sorry I've not been on chill for a few weeks, but Paul hasn't been very well, yet again. He has had a really bad eye infection in his left eye, and he hasn't been able to close it since February. Doctors have been treating it as an infection and treating it with drops and cream. The first lot didn't touch it, then they tried different drops, and it gradually got worse. Over the Easter weekend it really flared up and his eye was protruding beyond the eye, and it looked terrible. The doctor came out to see him on Tuesday and immediately rang the hospital to see if he could be seen that day by the eye casualty clinic. They couldn't get transport, so I took him in the Motability car and they were puzzled by what it was, and said could we go back on Thursday to see a corneal specialist, so I took him again yesterday. The specialist seemed very concerned and got a colleague to have a look for a 2nd opinion. They told me that there is something at the back of the eye physically pushing his eye forward and they needed to do a scan, and the upshot was that they admitted him immediately. He had the scan this morning, but couldn't tell me what the results are - got to see a doctor for that, and as they don't go round the wards, I'm still in the dark. I rang later to speak to somebody and they told me they can't tell me anything over the telephone, but when I go up tomorrow night to visit, I can ask any member of staff and they should be able to look it up. 34m

Sorry to hear the awful time Paul is having, it must be very frightening and stressful for you both. I hope tomorrow the prognosis is good and they can sort it out. Thinking of you both h###u

I am sorry to read this.
If this is worrying you and constantly on your mind could you not visit in the morning?
Otherwise somehow you will have to look after yourself until you are told the results.

So sorry to read this, it must be very painful for Paul and very worrying for you.
Might be better to go up the hospital in the morning, there would be a better chance to speak to a Dr in the daytime wh could explain everything to you.

I've spoken to the doctor at the hospital about Paul. Seems he may have eye cancer. If his eye swells up any more it could split and he'll lose the eye and they need to do a biopsy of the growth behind his eye which is pushing his eye forward. It gets worse every day I see him.
