A funeral notice in Norwich says
Returned to source.

Does anyone know what this means?

My guess would be 'returned to maker'

Same guess here Mo, bit of an odd phrase. but maybe it was some sort of "in-family" private "joke" ?

How odd. I agree with Liz, must be a family joke.

doesn't sound a very nice phrase as it is.

I have had a google for the phrase and it seems to be used in connection with traditions and beliefs in Jewish, Roman, and alernate religions?
