'Burnley is one of the greenest places in England'

Postby annie » 13 Feb 2016, 09:54

BURNLEY has been named as one of the greenest places in England, according to new figures.

The town now generates more electricity from solar, wind, hydropower and landfill gas than almost anywhere else.

The data, which has been released by the Green Alliance thinktank, lists Burnley as the sixth best-performing town with 14.44 per cent of its electricity coming from green sources.

According to the figures more than 38 per cent of Burnley's power comes from windfarms such as Coal Clough Wind Farm which is one of the largest onshore sites in England
