You may opt to use old recycled tires for any number of reasons, from garden planters to tire swings to unusual lawn art. You may also feel that their dull, ordinary black color would cause them to be an eyesore. However, with just a little time and effort, they can be as bright and colorful as your imagination allows.

Brush off any debris from the tire. Then scrub it with an ammonia-based cleaner and rinse it thoroughly. Allow it to dry overnight.

Spread the newspaper on your work surface. Lay the tire on top.

Spray a thin, even coat of paint the entire way around the tire, with the spray can about 10 inches from the tire's surface. Allow the paint to dry according to the manufacturer's instructions.

I use to have an old tyre as a planter before we moved here.
