I am wondering if this is Gladys or Grumps, as this stretch of road is right beside the straight mile of the canal. It would be just like Grumps to cause havoc!! However, unlikely as he wouldn't just meekly walk of!!!!!

MOTORISTS got in a bit of a flap when a swan landed on one of East Lancashire’s busiest roads.

Two police patrols were called to Centenary Way, Burnley, to rescue the long-necked bird that landed in the carriageway.

They had to stop the Manchester Road bound traffic.
It’s unlikely the swan will have to face the beak because no fowl play was suspected

is it likely it could be one of their young, that they may have sent away?
I know you thought they had been shot, but would a young one look like this?

No Wendy, the young are brown, they don't become fully white until they are 2.
I saw the bodies Wendy, very upsetting, there are no more cygnets on that stretch of the canal, so it was definitely them & at 4 months they are only just learning to fly
