A sing-along to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the release of the Sound of Music will take centre stage at the Last Night of the Proms later.
Soprano Danielle de Niese will lead audiences around the UK in song at the Royal Albert Hall.
The event will also be marked by tenor Jonas Kaufmann becoming the first German to perform Rule Britannia.
Marin Alsop, who became the first woman to conduct the Last Night of the Proms in 2013, returns to the podium.
She will conduct the the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus at the Royal Albert Hall, starting with the world premiere of Arise, Athena! by Eleanor Alberga.
Kaufmann told The Guardian being asked to perform Rule Britannia! made him "feel like an ambassador".
He will also perform Recondita Armonia from Tosca, Turandot's Nessun Dorma and Donna Non Vidi Mai from Manon Lescaut
