Things we no longer see

Do you remember those huge chrysanthamums we used to see.
I remember there was a man who lived around the corner and he would sell them. I think it was something like 2s 6p for each flower.

are there any more flowers or anything you used to love that you no longer see.

gpr Many years ago one of the girls at work used to get up very early in the morning - her dad competed with other chrysanthymum growers - she had to brush every petal each morning so that they all curved inwards - using a special camel hair brush. It involved a lot of work but he won many prizes - lovely flowers.

That takes me back to when I had a temp job at a florists, part of it I had to wore the flowers ready for the florist - with these huge chrysanthemums' I had to put a wire up inside the stem - you had to be very careful you didn't push the wire too far as if you did the petals "exploded" off the flower and you were left with a bare or nearly bare stalk !

I love pompom chrysanths, M&S were selling them in early October but they were very expensive so I didn't get any!
