More children will be born out of wedlock than within marriage in ten years’ time, according to an expert forecast.
The prediction by the Marriage Foundation comes as the number of children born to married couples has continued to fall in almost all of the past 30 years, reaching an all-time low of 53 per cent in 2012.
The figure has dropped from 88 per cent of births in 1980.
