Should you smack your children

The Pope has said that naughty children should be smacked.
What do you think to this, and did you smack your children?

I think a short smack on the hand when the child has been very naughty can do no harm.
But you may feel differently..............................

I agree Wendy, there is nothing wrong with a short light slap, but some parents can take it too far

A light tap doesn't do any harm, it didn't do me any harm

we got a smack on the back of the legs if we were naughty and I survived!

I used to tap on the back of the hand too.with the girls. I don't think there is a problem with that. it is that some parents take it too far and it becomes abusive that causes the problem for everyone.

I think a lot of kids these days would be better off if they knew where the boundaries were and the consequences of their behaviour.
