FREE WELLBEING WORKSHOPS IN NORFOLK & SUFFOLK

Postby wendy » 11 Jul 2016, 15:04

JOIN NORCAS 65+ TEAM FOR A HEALTHY HALF HOUR!

WHO IS IT FOR?

Groups of older people living in Norfolk or Suffolk aged 65 and over, who would benefit from a fun and informative half hour session on how they can improve their general health and wellbeing. These workshops are designed to explore how they can apply our version of the ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’ for a healthier lifestyle:

CONNECT- Encouraging older adults to connect with their local communities, helping to improve sociability and reduce isolation and loneliness. Learning about what is available in their local area, how they can do the things they enjoy and meet new people.

BE ACTIVE- We know that being active can have a hugely positive impact on our physical and mental health, however, we also know that it can be difficult to access activities due to mobility issues or physical restraints. We will look at fun and easy ways to engage in physical activity, whatever the level of fitness/mobility.

LEARN- At NORCAS we understand that the messages in newspapers or on social media about substances (alcohol & smoking for example) can be confusing. We will provide clear, concise and factual information around some of the negative impacts that substances can have on our health and how to remain safe while using them.

MEDICATION- To get the best results from medications, it is important to use them in the way they were intended. We will give advice and information around taking medication in the right way, at the right times and encouraging visits to a GP or Pharmacist for regular medication reviews. We will also look at how some substances will interact with medications and give active ways to stay safe.

BE MINDFUL- This will focus on practising relaxation and mental wellbeing. There will be an optional 10 minute guided mindfulness exercise, encouraging relaxation of the mind and being present in the moment. We will also provide some resources to take home.

WHAT WE OFFER

Our wellbeing sessions are completely FREE and we can provide them in a space which is accessible and convenient.
