Message sent by
Anthony Ford (Police , Watch Liaison Officer , East )

Following the recent suspected security breaches at Santander ATM cash machines, one of our ITK subscribers received an e-mail purporting to have been sent by Santander Bank.

The message contained in the e-mail is intended to direct the recipient to a scam site where they are requested to leave their online banking information.

The message starts by informing the recipient that the passcode to their online banking account has been entered wrongly several times and to safeguard the account their access has been restricted.

The e-mail is a scam and intended to steal personal banking information.

Please be careful when banking and transacting online.

If in doubt, don’t open the e-mail and contact the bank or sender immediately using a legitimate contact number and not one contained in the message.
