How on earth did they overlook a elderly resident having a firearm on the premises, questions need to be asked

Walton-on-the-Naze shooting: Woman dies in care home

An 81-year-old woman has been shot dead by a fellow octogenarian resident at a care home in Essex, police said.

Police identified the victim as Rita King, who they said was related to the man who has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

A revolver was recovered from the scene, detectives said.

Officers were called to De La Mer House care home in Naze Park Road, Walton-on-the-Naze, at about 09:00 GMT after reports a woman was seriously injured.

Ms King died at the scene.

When armed police arrived, staff had already taken the weapon off a man in his 80s and locked it away.

That is so frightening, how does someone have a gun in a care home and what made the man shoot that woman?

Surely they had a list of belongings when he went to the home so they could check if he lost anything .. if they did how on earth did he get hold of it ?!

I suppose if he could walk out on his own, then he could have bought it and took it back into the home.
Very sad case.
