Chief Medical Officer Dame Sally Davies warns family doctors who over prescribe antibiotics are contributing to a "public health catastrophe"

Family doctors who dole out too many antibiotics have been personally warned by the Chief Medical Officer that they are contributing to a "public health catastrophe".

Dame Sally Davies has written to 1,500 practises which were giving out significantly higher levels of antibiotic prescriptions to their patients than GPs in their area.

Not surprising, they have been overprescribed for years

Over the years it's been far to easy for Dr's to prescribe anti-b's and now counting the cost of it.

this is how I ended up in hospital, I feel sure.

Been going on for years, about time something was done about it.
