Do you care for a person with dementia? You could be entitled to free training and support.

Our Dementia Training for Carers is a programme of one-day events built on the hugely popular 10 Helpful Hints (link is external)series. Suitable for family and informal carers, each event gives practical information and help which draws on research and knowledge developed over the last 25 years. It provides an opportunity for carers to explore specific issues which matter to them, both with each other and with experts from DSDC. The training is delivered in a relaxed environment by experts who have both professional and personal experience of caring for a family member with dementia. There is also opportunity for private questions.

Dementia Training for Carers days are free to attend, thanks to support from the Dementia Fund (Comic Relief, The Ballinger Trust and Northern Rock) and are available for family and unpaid carers living in the North East of England and Cumbria.

The first event is scheduled to take place from 11:00 - 15:00 on Thursday 27th August 2015 at The Bradbury Centre, Darrell Street, Brunswick Village, Newcastle, NE13 7DS. If you are interested in attending this event please register here.

Further dates are being planned in Durham, North Tyneside, South Tyneside, Sunderland, Gateshead, Northumberland, Cumbria, Redcar & Cleveland and Stockton on Tees. If you are interested in attending any of these events please tell us here.

For further information please contact Lorraine Mcauley on 01786 467342 or lorraine.mcauley@stir.ac.uk (link sends e-mail)
