PENSIONERS in the Ribble Valley are being offered free tai chi courses to prevent them falling and injuring themselves at home.

The ancient Chinese martial art is famed for its health benefits - improving posture and flexibility, strengthening muscles and reducing stress.

And recent research suggests the slow-moving exercises can reduce the risk of falls among older people.

Ribble Valley Borough Council healthy lifestyles team has been delivering tai chi for a number of years.
