A blast of hot weather to hit UK as summer officially begins

Britain is set to bask in a mini heatwave next week - with temperatures reaching a very balmy 28C.

The unsettled weather is predicted to continue into early next week, but then by Wednesday things are warming up, giving a lovely start to June.

Summer officially starts on 1 June, and, while the first two days will be a bit grim, the end of the week will see weather to rival many Mediterranean holiday resorts.

Met Office forecaster Marco Petagna told the Daily Mail: "Monday and Tuesday will be cool and often wet and windy.

"But then the high pressure starts to build across the UK and and it certainly becomes very warm and locally hot in the south."

According to the Mirror and the Standard, he added: "Wednesday is the transition day from the unsettled to the better weather with temperatures reaching around 20C (68F) in the South.

"Friday into the weekend will see a much bigger increase with strong sunshine. Certainly is it good weather for getting out and about."

India heat wave continues, some can't escape it
A major heat wave in India has now killed more than 1,400 people. Indians are advised to stay inside, in the shade, or whatever they can do to stay out of the heat. It seems like the logical thing to do, but for some people, there is no choice but to brave the heat.

Just seen the forecast & it is not brilliant for the north west until Friday when it will reach 18 maximum, very disappointing after the awful May.

We are the same as you Annie, our best day is Friday. Today it is sunny, with black clouds and a cold wind, still wearing my winter coat. 09klj
