Finding a good respite care home

Postby wendy » 04 Apr 2015, 07:49

A member agreed to let his wife who has dementia go away to a care home on the coast. He went and inspected it first before he let her go for the two days and asked that they would get in touch if she was in any way distressed, because they had never been apart in over 50 years.
She came back with blisters on her feet and the fur on her hat was dirty and spikey as if she had slept in it and sweated.
The care home told him she had been restless and walked about alot.
Needless to say, she wont be going there again.
Do you have any similar tales to share.
