Bosses 'should make staff stand in meetings'

Companies should tell employees to stand up in meetings as it is healthier than sitting, health watchdogs say.
New guidance from the National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (Nice) urges employers to “minimise” sedentary behaviour in the workplace by encouraging as much movement as possible.
Workers should be encouraged to stand up during meetings, the watchdog says, and advised to walk or cycle to events outside their workplace.
The Nice standard on physical activity also says employers should encourage staff to set goals on how far they walk and cycle each day.
Health officials said that if more people were physically active, up to 37,000 premature deaths could be avoided each year.
It comes as a report from MPs warns that Britain has one of the most sedentary lifestyles in the world.
The Commons Health Select Committee highlighted data showing that walking trips have decreased by 30 per cent since 1995.
