Short breaks (respite) for carers
If you are a carer it is natural that from time-to-time you will need a break from your daily duties.
The short breaks service provide carers with a personalised, flexible, relief break from caring. The scheme will arrange for a professional care worker to take over a carer’s responsibilities for a period of time.
Carers can receive up to 30 hours of respite in any one year, with the scheme free to all carers in Norfolk who are not in receipt of any other forms of support from Norfolk County Council.
Support to the cared for person can be delivered within the home environment, or out in the community. The carer can also be present when the short break takes place.
Breaks should be booked with no less than two days’ notice and no more than one month in advance.
To book a short break, please phone the Carers Agency Partnership helpline on freephone 0808 808 9876. Lines are open 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday and 10am - 2pm on Saturday. (Calls may be monitored for training purposes).
