Why is the Birmingham accent so difficult to mimic?

Postby annie » 23 Sep 2014, 12:19

With a second series of Birmingham-set drama Peaky Blinders in the pipeline, the show's creator Steven Knight has admitted the city's accent is "very difficult to get right". What is it that makes it so hard to master, asks Brummie-accented Lucy Townsend.

Which UK accent do you love and which do you dislike?

For me it's not so much dislike but I have trouble understanding Scottish accents, but I expect the Scots have the same trouble understanding my Norfolk accent.

My daughter use to imitate accents and would do a  Brummie accent quite well, in the middle of a supermarket she would suddenly burst into a Brummie accent just to embarrass me  sp0
