One in three of us is allergic. From grass pollen to latex, peanuts to pets, allergies send 20,000 of people in England to hospital every year.
But generations before did not suffer from this epidemic, so what is it that's making us so allergic in our modern world?

Do you think because there was no knowledge of some allergies people just didn't talk about them and the fact epi pens didn't exist maybe people didn't survive.
As for nut allergies, nuts weren't that prolific years ago so maybe our bodies can't digest them properly?
My other thought is that we over clean things so antigens are never built up.
A friend of mine has 2 sons. she was told not to eat egg products or nuts when she was pregnant with the first as that was the norm at that time. He is now allergic to those and many other things. Her second she ate what she wanted and he is very healthy.
