Today I called in at this wonderful exhibition and sale of Textile Art
You can see a few of the wonderful pictures on display on the website below.
Blickling Hall 18th June - 14th July 2014

Julie Smith
I am a Norwich born Textile artist, and have realised that textiles and art have always been in my life from an early age.
I have studied at Norwich city college and then onto Adult Education for a number of years. Giving that up to concentrate on my textile work. For 7 years I have exhibited in Norwich with a group called “In-Stitches” and regularly exhibit at Blickling Hall, Aylsham every year for the summer and then at Christmas.
My work is both traditional and contempary, using a variety of materials and techniques. I like to explore new ideas and experiment with different materials to produce unique artwork. Needle felting is my favourite at the moment, as I like the idea that I can use the wool as if applying paint to get a realistic effect.
Gesso, handmade papers, reclaimed and found materials are all used with different techniques keeping me always excited about what you can achieve with mixing the medias.
This year I have teamed up with Justine Williamson, also a member of “In-Stitches”, we have set up workshops in the Norwich and Bacton areas. These have been very successful and have future workshops planned.
Please contact me with any queries prices and availability.
