My daughter Stephanie washing machine is broke,the engineer is coming to have a look at it on Friday

Stephanie is dropping washing off in the morning on the way to work,and picking it up after work

My washing is just piling up

Monday used to be called washing day.

My gran always washed on a Monday, I use to help her as she had a twin tub.

I remember Monday being washing day, it was an all day task, heating the boiler, using a hand wringer in the garden and hand rinsing, also starching, my nanny use to do the washing this way even in my lifetime.
There was nothing quite like seeing pure white linen blowing dry on the line.

It is never ending!!

No a happy bunny this morning as I have just discovered some ironing that I did for Sam on her bedroom floor. She has had her warning so I am now taking my services away and she will have to iron her own clothes! Apparently it isn't her fault as they fell out of the wardrobe!!!

Good for you Jane, I had the same problem with Paula, but there is justice -  as she has had the same problem with Rebecca!!lol

Monday was always washday for my mum, I remember her having the dolly tub & a manual wringer , it was all day of a job & jolly hard work

I had to walk across the fields with my grandma to get the water from the spring.
The cottages are still there, in Lincolnshire, but I aften wonder if they realize what it used to be like.
The washing boiler was outside in a sort or coal house, and it had to be lit like a fire, to get the water hot.

and then of course we had to have blue bags.  You could not wash whites without them.
