Celibacy can be a choice in life,
Or a condition imposed by circumstances.

While attending a Marriage Weekend,
My wife and I, listened to the instructor declare,
''It is essential that husbands and wives know the
Things that are important to each other.."

He then addressed the men,
''Can you name and describe your wife's favourite flower?''
I leaned over, touched my wife's hand gently,
And whispered,
''Self-raising, isn't it?''

And thus began my life of celibacy..........

Why dont we discuss this as a serious subject.....
I suppose we can say we was born alone and will die alone, but if you are alone, you miss a lot of fun in between.

This is a good topic and one i think affects most of us.

i know mine is not by choice!

Sex could make you smarter after new research has found it can encourage the growth of brain cells.

Researchers in America and South Korea have found that sexual activity in mice and rats improved cognitive function.

Psychologists at the University of Maryland found that sexual experience enhanced the number of newly generated neurons in the hippocampus, where long-term memories are made.

The rats were allowed half an hour of sexual behaviour a day which was monitored and videotaped.

The scientists tested middle-aged rats and found that sexual experience restored age-related decline in brain function to young adult levels.

I, like many of us on here, I suspect, have had enforced celibacy thrust upon me because of disability and I don't much care for it, but there is nothing I can do about it!!!

Would be good to open a discussion on this subject, I too am in this situation not by choice, I am told to "take up a hobby" or "just accept it" but I do find it difficult not to think about it, on a daily basis. It is a part of how I interact and show how much I care, but sadly over the past 5 years of enforced celibacy those feelings have turned to resentment, this is not a small issue and I do find it hard to come to terms with. It does seem that the subject of sex is always treated as a joke and therefore not recognised as a need to well being and good mental health.

I know what you mean about it being part of your life you didn't intend to give up.

I did start a discussion on this in general messages under "hands up if you still get it".

I do think it is a very relevant topic to us all and it can be a difficult one to talk about as well as go through.
