Bonfire Night has rather unfortunate timing for local wildlife, much of which is busying itself with the annual task of finding enough food and shelter for the winter ahead.
Particularly vulnerable on Bonfire Night is the increasingly rare hedgehog community but there are plenty of other animals at risk at this time of year. Frogs, toads, newts, foxes, cats, birds – that interesting log pile you have been creating for the last few days, or weeks even, looks a lot like a warm and comfortable new residence to so many of them.
