Home care visits: 'Carers coming later, leaving earlier'

Postby annie » 23 Sep 2015, 08:54

Carers who visit elderly people in their homes should spend at least 30 minutes with them according to new guidance.

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidance follows reports of carers making visits of 15 minutes and less.

Paul Cuskin spoke to BBC News about his mother's experience with carers. He said over a period of 3 months, he had 20 different carers coming to look after her.

The care calls are a disgrace, back in the day when I worked for SS home visits ranged from 30 mins to 2 hours.
