Dunkirk

Postby wendy » 20 May 2015, 17:21

I will be most interested to see the little boats going to France tomorrow.
My parents had a small boat, named Vicky.
It was a wonderful boat, with beautiful shiny wood and lots of brass.
The toilet was also a seat round the dining table, and then the dining table made a double bed.
We had such fun on this boat on the river Trent for many years.
Please keep an eye out for Vicky if you see the boats on the TV.

My late father was a Dunkirk veteran, he managed to get back home on a destroyer, he told me he spent 3 days and nights quieing up to his neck in water to get home on a ship
Dad was sent back again elsewhere afterwards.
He was awarded the Dunkirk medal .

Our little boat which we owned in the 50's and 60's.
The boat before we had it had gone to Dunkirk to rescue soldiers.
We used to keep it at Cranfleet lock on the river Trent.
