An earthquake measuring 4.2 on the Richter scale hit the town of Sandwich at a depth of 15km at 2.52am.
The tremor was reported on Twitter to be felt as far away as Norwich, Cromer and Hunstanton. Graham Bunting of Mulbarton tweeted: “it woke the wife up (who in turn woke me up) thinking it was ‘burglars’ as the ‘doors were shaking’ made me check the whole house!!”
