We dont realise how lucky we are looking at those conditions that was "acceptable" at the time.

I think myself very lucky that I didn't have to live in conditions like that in the 50's and 60's, but I knew of some poor families that did.

We lived in a 2 up 2 down terraced house with black lead range, tin bath and outside drop toilet &7 flag floors, but we did not know the kind of poverty portrayed in these pics, at least the house was not damp and we aways had enough to eat
