How do we react about the Scottish vote?

Can someone please tell me how we are supposed to react when we find out that someone in Scotland voted to leave England.
What are we supposed to say to them?
They would feel awful if we had wanted to push them out.
I have no idea what to say.

It is not a nice feeling to think that 45% of the people of Scotland hate us
